Next week, I’m off to the Vancouver Writers’ Festival to present Trash Talk, and I’m so excited! As a teenager, my mom used to buy tickets for VWF events. I would read as many books as I could by each author, and the two of us would make the hour-long drive to Granville Island for our literary night out. Listening to Carol Shields and Robertson Davies as I sat beside my mother are some of the very best memories of my life. I feel so honoured to be part of the festival as a speaker now!
And I’m also thrilled to announce that Trash Talk has been nominated for a 2016 Silver Birch Non-fiction award, alongside books by some of my favourite authors. (If you haven’t checked out Margriet Ruurs and Katherine Gibson’s book A Brush Full of Colour, I highly recommend it.)
Happy autumn, everyone!
